To finish off the Pattaya part of this blog below is a pictorial page and is dedicated to some of the crazy scenes out and about in Pattaya. Anything goes... literally.
4 or more on a 125cc motorcycle is commonplace. Crash-helmets are worn by many (a legal requirement that most ignore) but they're purely cosmetic; the helmet is seldom fastened on. Any accident means the helmet simply falls off. It's a case of dog-eat-dog out there on the roads. If there's a traffic jam (and there ALWAYS is) the bikes simply take to the walkways & pavements; a place where you, as a pedestrian do NOT have right of passage).
Lane discipline; you must be joking.
Red lights; yes occasionally obeyed.
Police; they just can't be bothered.
