KOH KOOD (continued)
MONDAY 8th.
The heat on the island was relentless; easily in the very high 30's (37-38°C) most days every day with very little breeze to ease things up.

Scudding about on the bike was refreshing but as soon as we stopped, wow! the heat blasted away.
We usually wake around 6:45 - 07:00 and wander down for one of the excellent breakfasts around 08:00. These really are 5-star. Almost any kind of food you could wish for. If you want eggs done a certain way; just ask and it's served up to your table in minutes. I was delighted to find my favourite cheese was even available; and in quantity; that would be a truly excellent well-matured Blue Stilton. There was even wine on offer for those who need an alcohol fix in the mornings. But, basically, you name it you can have it.
We only had dinner in the restaurant here once on the first day. As breakfast, the food was excellent but just too expensive. We dined locally in different roadside restaurants afterwards.
We stayed in the air-conned villa up to 11:00 and only emerged when we got a little stir-crazy.
Ended up just going down to the resort's beach and staying there until the magic happy-hour of 4pm.
TUESDAY 9th.
Most of the day spent back in Ao Jark. Found a quiet speck under some palms and chilled. Lunched at the beach bar and that was it for the day.
WEDNESDAY 10th
Our last full day on Koh Kood. Not that we made the most of it as we didn't get going until 11:00. Nothing special this day just lazing on a coral beach. Evening we ventured to an Italian restaurant and ate well. Jack and I had big pizzas and Aom a Lasagna. Pretty good.
Started the boring bit of packing our bags ready for the off at 08:00 tomorrow.
THURSDAY 11th.
Although we were to check-out at 07:45 we sneaked in a decent breakfast and got back to the villa in time for the staff to collect our bags.
Next came the tedious bit of settleing the bill. OUCH! Oh well grin and bear it.
I'd booked the 09:00 Boonsiri Ferry which meant us leaving the resort around 08:20.
Half way to Ao Salat the resorts wagon the heavens opened with a tropical downpour. Fine way to say goodbye to us! However, it had eased off by the time we reached the ferry check-in point.
Ferry not at all crowded this time with plenty of seating to choose from.

TOP LEFT: Dining at a "typical" Thai restaurant. I found this one a bit tatty and none too keen on it.
TOP RIGHT: Ao Noi beach.
2nd ROW LEFT: 'High Season's' beach bar.
2nd ROW RIGHT: Our local beach and twin palm trees.
3rd ROW LEFT: River mouth just down the beach from our resort.
3rd ROW RIGHT: Ao Jark beach.
BOTTOM: Last evening at the High Season Resort.
REFLECTIONS ON KO KOOD:-
Probably our favourite Thai island.
Why?
POSITIVES:
Utterly fantastic white coral beaches. Every road and track seems to terminate in one; not found a bad one yet.
Very, very peaceful, friendly and relaxing island. It’s hardly changed since last time we stayed in 2015.
No idiots on jet-skis; in fact, no jet skis, anywhere.
No other water sports other than canoeing, snorkelling and diving.
100’s of good restaurants/eateries.
Oodles of bars which don’t rip-off tourists.
Loads of quality resorts, hotels and homestays to stay at.
No high-rise apartment blocks. In fact, no high-rise at all. I've never seen a building in excess of two storeys.
NEGATIVES:
If you fancy a plunge into the ocean to cool off… forget it; the inshore water’s in excess of 32°C.
Don’t buy big bottles of beer unless you want to drink it all in one go or want to share it… the beer goes too warm too quickly.
Coconut drop. A single one can easily weigh up to 5.5 pounds (2.5 kilograms) and can fall off a tree 20 mts high causing around a 150 deaths a year.
Hope to see you again someday, Ko Kood.
